Those in the Algarve know well Joaquim Raimundo, a long established Chef in this part of the country, with a vast experience in luxury hotels and restaurants. Twice the finalist on the Chef Cook of the Year competition, Joaquim is a passionate learner of all matters related to food, researching, experimenting, and exchanging information with his colleagues. He also wrote a book – Creative Flavours (in Portuguese: Sabores com Criatividade) – with which he hopes to inspire all aspirants to good cooks according to the Chinese proverb "do not give a man a fish, teach a man to fish".
Chef Joaquim Raimundo put his art at the service of renowned kitchens such as Vilalara Thalassa Resort and Epic Sana Algarve, headed the D'Lounge at Quinta do Lago and later took the helm at Suites Alba Resort & Spa, the private resort owned by the international football player Luís Figo, near Carvoeiro.
Joaquim Raimundo’s contemporary gastronomy is founded on the best regional products elevated by delicious details: the so-called “signature cooking” that transforms simple traditional dishes, such as Portuguese-style duck rice, into unique and surprising experiences. And this is how Chef Joaquim Raimundo has been using food to create thousands of happy diners.
